The Piling Construction Lot I for the 2×1000MW Ultra-Supercritical Unit New Construction Project of Jiangxi Shangrao Power Plant is located in Chating Town, Guangxin District, Shangrao City, Jiangxi Province. The project is developed under a "coal-power integration" model by China Coal Xinji Energy Co., Ltd. and State Power Investment Corporation Jiangxi Electric Power Co., Ltd. Our Group Company undertook the piling works for its No. 1 unit and the BOP (Balance of Plant auxiliary facilities) area.
The project commenced on April 22, 2024, and was completed on August 17, 2024, spanning a total of 117 days. A total of 975 bored piles were completed, comprising 320 piles with a diameter of 600 millimeters and 655 piles with a diameter of 800 millimeters. Both static load and low-strain tests confirmed a 100% qualification rate.
The construction period coincided with the local rainy season. The cooling tower area, being low-lying and prone to drainage difficulties, posed significant challenges. The project team proactively excavated drainage ditches, deployed pumps, and laid steel plate access roads, enabling work to continue almost uninterrupted during wet weather. Additionally, the site was a backfilled area created by mountain excavation, with fill depths reaching up to 10 meters and containing large boulders. This complicated drilling operations and increased the concrete fill factor. To overcome this, the team applied the "long casing technique," utilizing a sheet pile driver to install extended casings that penetrated directly through the backfilled rock layer, effectively stabilizing the borehole walls and controlling concrete usage. For larger boulders, the "clay backfilling with slow drilling" method was employed to assist in hole formation.
Faced with exceptionally complex construction conditions, the project team demonstrated outstanding professional expertise, tenacious problem-solving spirit, and excellent quality and safety management. These efforts earned high recognition and praise from the client.
